Where has they time gone? I would love to have more time, but like all other humans in the world...I get the same 24 hrs. I just need 25. I guess I really do think I'm special...just kidding. However, it's Christmas time and I love living in the south for Christmas. Everything's just a bit more fun here. LOL. Even the movie industry has found out we are a lot more fun here too. I have started acting in some movies just for the fun of it and a little money on the side. In a year, I've been in 10 movies, 3 TV Programs 4 times, and on one local musicians/songwriter's video. No dancing just acting. lol. It was a lot of fun and I have met all kinds of new actor friends. Some of the celebrities I have been on set with are Bette Midler, Billie Crystal, Dolly Parton, Jennifer Garner, Denise Quaid, Andie McDowell, Brooklyn Decker, Tyler Perry as an actor and producer, Anna Kendrick, Elizabeth Banks Chace Crawford, Ion Summerhaulter, Nina Dobrev, Queen Latifah, Common, Jason Bateman, Ryan Reynolds, Lynette Mann, Brandy. The list goes on, Sorry for all the misspellings. I guess I should have looked up the correct. Needless to say, it's been fun. :) Enjoy your holidays.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://livinginthefastlanex2.blogspot.com/2011/12/wow-time-really-does-fly.html' title='Wow! Time sure passes quickly. Since I've been on here last, lots of things have taken place. I've been busy with several projects. My friend Katie asked me to go to a casting call one day. I said, what the heck. I threw on some clothes and off we went. It was a casting call for the remake of the movie, "Footloose." Too funny, huh? Well, it wasn't long and Katie and I received a call back to be an extra. I have never worked/pulled such a long all nighter. It was tiring, but fun. Since then, I have been casted for another extra part. Worked two days and did "the hurry up and wait" thingie. Learned where that term came from and fast. One needs a lot of patience and charm to remain sane. Jk. However, this movie was for "The Change Up." Starring some most awesome "people" you would ever want to meet. For example, "People's Magazine's sexiest man, Ryan Reynolds. He turned around (on set) and came face to face, with, non other but yours truly, me. How's that for getting noticed? Lol I said, Hi:), He said, hi and we exchanged a few small words more. After Ryan walked away, the guy beside me ( another extra playing a waiter) said...let me touch the person that talked with Ryan Reynolds. I laughed. The movie business is really fun. I haven't gotten paid too much as of yet, but I've gotten more each time. Every person working on set, works hard. I have a new found respect for them,,, I mean "us." Lol It grows on you. I can't wait to see what's next. The South is the "NEW" Hollywood. Maybe soon, Ryan will be as excited to be speaking with me as I was to him. LOL!!!! See ya on the BIG SCREEN. I hope you can find me. Love ya! It's the greatest place to live. Everyone is friendly, kind and loves doing yard work..."Not." Well some do, others don't. But,the south is so lush and green, it's beautiful. We are so fortunate to have all this lush green environment. Grass is green. Trees (especially Pine trees) are green and there are lots of them. Honeysuckle blooms the sweetest smell and the Gardenia bushes puts off a "can't get enough" smell from their delicate white flowers. The Blackberries are large and juicy. I love to pick them, except for the stickers. Ouch! Watch for the snakes too. Hope you enjoy this time of year like I do, wherever you live. Enjoy Life.

Southern Hospitality and Helping Your Neighbor

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_-WW3SjTRDNs/S8NeMsR3mDI/AAAAAAAAAQs/KjGPJfUyiFY/s320/Easter+pics+021.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459310745440720946" />
You know us in the south and our hospitality, we are always willing to help. But, why? Because, we know the wonderful feeling you get from helping others. It's something that can't be described. Hopefully you can understand this example: It's like you're the knight in shining armor, ready to rescue the damsel in distress and do. It really feels that good. But, I wanted to share of a cause that I'm involved in and you may want to do something "southern" like this for your community. Our community is coming together to make it a special place for our elderly. Read below. Thanks..:) Pic is of the baskets made for one Easter for the home. They loved them. I'll post pics of the event in May. This is how it's done in the south. Help thy neighbor.

The Powder Springs Church of God, U-design Jewelry and the Girls Clubs of PSCOG are teaming up to make a special Mother’s day for the elderly lady residents of the Powder Springs’ Bethel Garden Assisted Living Home. The church holds monthly services on the 2nd Saturday at 10:00 for the last several years. The Powder Springs Church of God has always been good at donating Easter baskets at Easter and stockings at Christmastime. However, this Mother’s day will be a special grand event. The church will be giving the residents that attend the Mother’s day meeting a “one of a kind,” 925 sterling silver bracelet designed by the girls from the club with the help of U-design Jewelry company owned by local graduate of McEachern High School, Pamela Fox. It is a community affair coming together to share goodness to some of Powder Springs’ elderly.
“Most of the residents at the home are widows, and I want them to feel extra special this Mother’s day, says Pastor Jeff Vaughn now residing as senior pastor until the pending retirement of Pastor Carson Brown, church pastor of “32” faithful years, which is retiring in June due to health reasons. “However, as the new pastor, my vision is to reach out and help our local community by touching others in need. We love the residents at the home and want them to know it by sharing with them joy and happiness each month. Feel free to come visit us.”
Some of the residents have been longtime foundation citizens of Powder Springs community dating back many, many years. If you would like to help by donating time or monetary means, please call 770-943-7780 or send to P.O. Box 722, Powder Springs COG or visit http://powderspringschurchofgod.blogspot.com to read more about the work that is happening at the church or join us on Facebook and search for, Jeff and Kelly Vaughn. Special thanks to www.udesignjewelry.com/rep/pamelafox or 770-401-9047 for donating the sterling silver bracelets and the Girls Clubs for helping design them.
I Timothy 5:3 says: Honor the widows

Springtime in the South

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_-WW3SjTRDNs/S7QFz21VSJI/AAAAAAAAAQU/BcyVOsgXQQM/s320/springtime+153.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454991437103188114" />

Springtime in the South is so gorgeous. The trees and flowers are blooming. Jonquils peek adorable faces of yellow. The sun begins to shine bright, and the birds are happily chirping their sweet little melodious overture. Everything seems to be smiling and glistening. New life is beheld and circling me. Dead straight baron branches have vanished, while round moist buds, line their limbs ready to sprout and spew and burst with newness, and such it seems, instantly over night. Brown lifeless grass has taken on a green choir and breezing its chorus. And, an exquisite palette of mixed color scatters the tastefully woven tapestry of springtime. A perfect dialogue between Mother Earth and offspring synchronize their symphony, one note following the first, until all is accomplished. Meantime, tedium does not exist in the south during spring. I guess that is why I love the south.

Enjoy your spring and absorb the beauty. It only comes once a year.

Life's a beach- Is yours?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 216px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_-WW3SjTRDNs/S5EqDWnJvNI/AAAAAAAAAPk/oPXGYzfeDz4/s320/248859-R1-09-8A_1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5445179661565410514" />
"Life's a beach." I guess that means it's sandy (gets in places you don't want), has waves, sometimes tidal ones (total wipe outs), storms, crabs and pesky, loud birds and sometimes you get burned. On the other side, most of the time there is beauty, a lot of fun, sunshine, soothing wave sounds, and clear blue sailing. hahahaha. I thought I would share it with my readers too. Great and true story.

I was leaving my Aunt Sue's home quickly, since it was so bitterly cold. I rushed out the door, when my Uncle, said let me stand out here and watch. I yelled back, No it is too cold, I will be ok.

I walked around to get in my car, stopped, saw a man crouched down by my car door. This time yelled, Carson, there is a man here. He came out, asked the man questions, let him go on. His reasoning was he was cold, getting out of the wind. Who knows?

I could have disappeared that night, if my Uncle had not listened to a small voice. It was the only time he had watched me, to see that I was safe almost thirty years ago.

It could have been worse, if I had not had a gaurdian angel watching over me! Listen to that small still voice, it could be life changing.
Kim Standard

My comment on her page...
This is a true story that happened years ago. It was a crazy night. My friend, Chanta that was much younger than Kim, my cousin, and a couple of years younger than me, had just left on her bicycle to go home to her 100 acre farm next door. Then, I remember Kim starting to leave to go home to her apartment, and for some reason my dad said, "I'll watch you go to your car." He had, not to my knowledge, ever done that before. One reason was, we lived in such a safe rural area, nowhere near a town nor too close to other houses, mostly farms on one side and a small house subdivision on the other side of our small farm, where we knew most everyone in the neighborhood. So, it was a strange place for a person to be hiding behind our cars that night. But, thank goodness, my dad was there, because as Kim walked around to get into her car a man was crouching beside it. She yelled out and my dad went out. My mom told me to get back away from the door. So, I guess the man just left and went his on way after my dad told him to, without a fight or scuffle. But, Kim, my friend, Chanta, me or my mom could have ended up a statistic that we hear of today in the news, if my father hadn't gone with his gut feeling and went out to watch her. The stranger, peeping Tom or whatever could have gotten into her car and we might never have seen Kim again. So, listen to your heart when you at least expect it. God will always try and protect you, if you will let him. We did hear of a peeping Tom later years that was making his rounds in the area. But, we will never know.

In the south, mom's are needed as volunteers at their children's school. I presume this happens everywhere. However, at the school my daughter is at, they expect more than the norm due to it being a "charter" school. In fact, we are required to do 10 hours before the winter break or your child will be kicked out of school. It is a county ran school, but I guess you will be kicked out to a "normal" county school. Lol So, to fullfill my duties, I have had to volunteer on several of the committees. The one I am currently surving on is "The Variety Show" committee. Or, as I call it, the talent show. Last year was the first year the school had one. Believe it or not, they had so many children to participate, they had to literally rent a new venue. I wasn't here last year, so I have no clue as to what types of talent was displayed. But, the students are very bright, so we will see. :)

Southern Snow

Southern Snow in Georgia and a Southern breakfast

On Thursday evening, it began to snow in Georgia. I love it when it snows. I've blogged about our winters here before and how we all run out and buy milk and bread for the massive 1/2 inch snow we usually get and even if we get that. I think, it's a way for the super markets to get rid of overstock..jk (just kidding)

Seriously, in the south we normally don't get your typical soft snow, it's usually ice and snow mixed. Then, what happens is the power lines break, and then we loose power, which means no heat, lights, refrigeration, and if on a well for water, like I am, no water, which can last for days. It's not a pretty sight. But, this week, I had a wonderful snow happen at my house. It was the powdery type. The only problem with that was I couldn't make a snowman like I wanted to.. Temperatures were around 18 degrees. My school buddy from Chicago told me it was colder in Georgia than it was there, 22 degrees. So, when we woke up on Friday morning, I decided I would make the traditional southern breakfast, minus a few of the things, no grits, no oatmeal..I made scrambled eggs, biscuits, gravy and sausage. It was delish..check out my pics. Hope you've had a nice winter also. I would love to see yours around the world. If you notice, my daughter has on flip flops and my son has on a mink hat, I found at a sale that looks like he's from the coldest area of Russia. One extreme to the other...They are such a hoot. One pic. I had on a t-shirt then, realized it was really cold out and put on my warm coat. So, I'm one extreme to the other too. We had a lot of fun, while it was coming down on Thursday evening.

Friday was the day pics. Hope you enjoy me sharing my life with you. The later part of the year for the Vaughn family has been very challenging. Coltan, my son, has had a lot of issues with his leg. Jeff, my husband, had gall bladder surgery and so did my father, plus he had hernia surgery too. So, I am looking forward to a new year of good things to happen. The economy, I hope, is looking better. It is at least starting to regulate itself. I know if we all pull together, help each other and show some southern hospitality we can have the greatest year ever.
Southern tradition on new years eve: spend time with your loved ones, wear party hats, make toasts, blow horns to ring in the new year, shoot firecrackers off and do sparklers, eat and stay up to midnight and watch the peach drop in Atlanta and sometimes the apple in New York City, countdown 10-1. I'm sure you do the same all over the world too. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010.

A Christmas Wish

A Christmas wish came true this year for my daughter. Coltan, my son was in the hospital for the week of Christmas and morning of, but got to come home that evening. He had a life threatening infection from a recent surgery. Therefore, Santa had to come visit our house that evening. My son asked Sophia, my 11yr. old daughter after the presents were opened and the wrapping lay on the floor, if she had gotten all the presents she wanted? And she told my son, her Christmas wish had come true that he had gotten out of the hospital and was home for Christmas. She had been having to stay with grandparents, while we were away at the hospital and was becoming very sad without her intermediate family around. She and her brother always like to fight and aggravate each other, like sibling do. But, when Coltan heard that he was her Christmas wish, he began to cry. Of course, then he quietly told me what she had said to him and that made me cry. They finally realize that Christmas isn't about what Christmas presents you receive, but about being together as a family. He also realized she really does love and cares for him even though she irritates him very much. That in return, makes him realize that he loves her dearly too. This Christmas was an eye opener for our whole family. We are so blessed with material things, but without family and friends to help you out and be the support when times are hard, you have nothing. Thanks to our family, friends, doctors, nurses and volunteers at Children's Health Care of Atlanta at Scottish Rite for making us realize you are our presents this year. Merry Christmas.

Even though I live in the south and things may be a lot more slower and relaxed, Christmas is still sneaking up on me very fast. I love to use old family traditions with the children as well as some new ones that I started on my own or ones that I've heard about that seems to be one that I want to begin. This year my son had sugery on his leg before Christmas. Went home for a few days, but, now has had to return to the hospital. Guess things change, but we can make it work. We will just have a new location for Christmas this year. In the south, we love to decorate and have parties with family and friends. It's a joyous time of the year and we hope, peace and goodwill toward men. Everyone seems a lot more kind and considerate of others this time. We love to have our traditions, which seem to make Christmas time real for each individual family. Some families may open presents on Christmas eve others may open their presents on Christmas morning. Which ever way is up to the individual family. We usually open our presents from "Santa Claus" on Christmas morning. We usually have a Christmas lunch with our family and enjoy a fun and a relaxing time together. We always keep Christ in our Christmas, since he is the whole reason for this beautiful season. All the extra is just that, extra fun. It was always known as the Bible belt. So, Sundays for my family always includes church with the family and dinner following. I don't think people are still following this tradition as the generations progress. It is and was a great way to make wonderful memories with your family, while getting good moral values taught to your children and reiterating them for yourself. We all need to be surrounded by the good things and positives in life. I always feel refreshed and alive and well when I leave church. Try it, you might like it. We went to a movie in the park. We saw, Ice Age III. We spread out a blanket and brought a picnic of sandwiches and chips, candy, ices, and kettle popcorn. The park blew in snow and had giant sized snow flakes that would blow up and float in the sky. It was neat. Of course, the movie didn't start until dark. We have had rain like we have never seen it before. Flood waters are everywhere and at this time, has taken seven lives. I am so fortunate to only have a little damage to my driveway and landscaping. But, I feel for the families that have lost love ones and have their homes destroyed. I have not been able to work for two days now, because of the water issue. It has broken the water pipes and the water is not safe to use at the dentist office. My husband hasn't been able to get to work, due to closed roads. Thanks to company cell phones and laptops, he's being able to work from home. He tried for four hours to get to work yesterday, after the major rain we received on Sunday night. He started at his usual time around 5 am and had to turn around the first time and come back home. He waited 'til the sun came up so he could see the roads better, which I'm so glad he did, because one man accidentally ran into water and his car was swept away and he died. This could have been Jeff blindly driving in the dark. Then, he tried again when the sun was up. He was turned around six different times by police blocking his way on his way to work. After, the sixth time he gave up and returned safely home. The waters continue to rise. My friend lost six of her horses and three were saved. I hate that for her and her family. Her stables are totally covered up to the roof in water. Another of my friend is a police officer and asks that everyone stay in until the water receeds some and to use common sense and extreme caution when getting around any of this water. Please keep us that live in Georgia in your prayers. We could all use them right now. :) Thanks for reading.

My sweet little bridge is broken. It's kinda a "pun," because on "Labor Day," we don't labor or work. It's a day to relax and enjoy the last of summer and the beginning of fall. Usually, us southerners spend it with close family and friends. We cook out on the grill, mostly hot dogs and hamburgers and all the other fixin's like, potato salad, cole slaw, chips, baked beans and the such. It's a day to reminisce and enjoy your family. We spent this holiday at the lake. The teenagers love to swim and ride all the jet ski's and floats. The rest of us just enjoy time talking to our family. Life is so busy, it's a way of catching back up with each other. I love to be able to chat without feeling like I need to be doing something else. I'm glad we, in the south, have this fabulous holiday. Guess the next time I get with family, will be Christmas.. Thanks for reading. I hope you had a great holiday too. And, if your country doesn't celebrate "Labor Day" may be it's about time they do... :)

Life is Good in the South- Summer Addition

Life is good in the south. In the summer, the grasses are so beautiful and the flowers are out of sight. There are gorgeous trees like weeping cherry trees, blooming pear trees, magnolia trees with giant big white blossoms. I love the smell of the gardenia bushes flowering in August. People in the south take pride in the beauty of our yards. We have extreme landscapes. Beautiful waterfalls and fountains pathways and sitting areas with lights and swings are a norm at any southern home, no matter the value of the home. We, in the south cherish making our homes a great place to reside and share with others. Home and family are always first on the agenda. The only place that I have seen this type of beauty is in the California hills where the really rich can afford to have it done for them. We also plant useful gardens and musky dime vines and grape vines. They all grow well in the south. Apple, orange, pear and fig trees grow easily here too. Strawberries, canalopes, and watermelon are also the rage for homes to grow. I once, not at my new home, had a great herb garden. I had oregano, thyme, dill, chives. I loved to go harvest my little herbs whenever a recipe called for it. Tomatoes are usually in an over abundance by August. We love to eat tomato sandwiches or even fried green tomatoes. A good southern sandwich, take two pieces of bread, add mayonnaise and slices of tomatoes, a little salt and pepper. Eat up. Delish.

Southern Birthdays

Today is my birthday.....we or should I say I, will leave the numbers off. Birthdays are so much more fun, if we leave out the minor details. I have enjoyed a day of fun on my facebook. It was my first birthday with all my old and new friends online. Everyone makes you feel very special. In the south and I guess other places, birthdays are a day for parties and gifts that are given to the birthday girl or boy. Special treatment is also given to that person. And, that of course is me today. You also think you can get away with minor things, such as having the day off on your birthday. This didn't happen to me today, but, I came in a little late and returned from my birthday lunch a little late......all in all, hoping to get away with it.. Which, luckily, my sweet boss over looked today. He's a doll. I've been working for him for "24" some odd years.

My family treated me special today too...When, I got home from work, my sweet adorable husband had cooked supper for me, so I wouldn't have to. He also had a present hid in the cabinet to surprise me. I, being the girl that I am, love surprise presents. What girl wouldn't want a gift from Jared's. It was a Pandora charm for my Pandora bracelet. I love it. I'm glad I'm alive and glad to share my southern birthday heritage with you. No cake today, but, I did have Krispy Kreme donuts given to me by my two co-workers, Erin and Jenny. Thanks girls.

I am adding this on after I published this post. I got off of here and my husband had drawn me a bubble bath for me to relax in and on the tub was another Pandora Charm. It was a cupcake charm for my birthday. The exact one I wanted. My husband is a keeper for sure and he's all mine...all mine.

Pic is from my "40" birthday a couple years back, now I guess you know how old I am...lol

Southern to the Core - Getting to know us better

Southern born and southern bred. I am southern to the core. I have lived my whole life here in the south. It's not too hot or not too cold. We usually get snow once a year. And, we have a blast. You would think we never see snow the way we react. We can't drive in it. Or worse, at the mere mention of snow, we run to the store to get a year’s supply of milk, bread and oh yes, we have to get cookies. It's just tradition with my family. I think the preparation is half the excitement. In fact, I love to just go to the store, even when I don't need anything, just for the fun of it. Everyone is scurrying around like little mice, fighting over the milk and bread. You even hear on the news, so and so store is out, etc. I know all y'all northerners make fun of us, when we do have a tiny, compared to yalls, snow event. But, in defense of our outlandish southern behavior, we don't normally just have snow, we have ice. Have you ever driven on ice? It's not nice. hahaha.

When I was younger, I had this beautiful new red firebird, car. I purchased with my own little job. I thought it looked like a corvette. I took very good care of it. One day, a snow was scheduled to happen in our little southern town. But, I thought I was brave, so I headed to work anyway in my beautiful car. I only lived eight minutes from my work, what could possibly happen from here to there in that short of time? Well, I'll tell you what happened; between my little home to the beginning of town.... an ice storm mixed with snow happened. First, I was able to stop at the first traffic light in town, fine, with no problems. Then, I started to the next traffic light, only one block away. The red light came on for my side to stop. I tried to stop,,,,,but, it didn't happen. I and my beautiful red car kept heading through the red light and cars were coming the other way. I just prayed they would be able to stop, so they wouldn't hit me. I tried to floor the gas of the car to get on across. There wasn't any traction. I felt helpless..

Luckily the cars were evidently better drivers than I was at that time and were able to stop. I'm an excellent driver now... Yeah, right. Finally, my car was still sliding and hit a little traction. Scared to death, I pulled into the next parking lot and called my boss, which was only two more blocks away. He came and picked me up. Now, I have the right to panic when I hear the word snow. It can change from a few flurries to an all blown-out ice storm, within eight minutes. Trees break and snap from the ice and power lines fall. It may take days to get your electricity back on with no heat. That's why we in the south panic about chances of snow and get thoroughly prepared. :) Thanks for reading. Bye y'all!

*Pic of me, in a southern winter wonderland. This is a company that my sister owns. Anyone can own theirs too. Sorta along the line of like Mary Kay, Avon, Tupperware. It is a home-based business, but you go to client's homes for parties or they can come to your house or order directly from a catalog, if they're not creative. Your guests designs their own jewelry and the U-designers make it. It is all 925 sterling silver pieces of jewelry or beads and semi-precious stones, they also use a lot of Swavorsky crystals. earrings starting at just $9.99 plus tax. Very afforable, but nice. Designs are endless, so you can continue to follow the fashion trends easily. I want to join just so I have the materials to design pieces to be perfect for every outfit. Then, I would have one of a kind pieces along with satisfaction of using my creativity. It seems to be very profitable for my sister so far. She has netted more than I have at my dentist office, this year. She even has two representatives working under her along with the ladies in the picture that own their own jewelry companies too. My sister also makes up jewelry that she designs to sell at festivals and shows. I also design for her. It a great source of income for stay at home moms or a 2nd supplemental income. One good thing about the south is that we are able to embrace change. I have worked with the girls clubs of North Georgia for many years now and have realized that new ideas are forming everyday by these young ladies.

One tradition that I hope stays the same in the south is our southern hospitality. However, with crime on the rise, I fear this tradition will be leaving us soon. Another one is that the south has always been about family first. But, as time has moved on, I have noticed an evolution happening. Mothers, due to needing two incomes to keep the household a float, are having to work outside the home and are not at home as much. What I've taken note of is that grandparents are helping out more and more to keep family first.

I work at a dentist/orthodontic office and have seen that grandparents are bringing their children's children in more for their visits and sometimes never see the parents, but intially. I have been at this office for so long that it's become funny that a lot of my parents of my first go round patients, years ago are now the grandparents of my new recent patients, - their grandchildren. We... get to reconnect again. I love my job and is glad this new way of tradition is happening. I would like to thank the grandparents for keeping an old tradition alive, which is family first, but, with a new twist by helping a new tradition, of more mothers working outside the home needing help raising their family.

The picture above is of my beautiful little southern belles (Girls Clubs) being a little silly for our annual 4th of July picnic.... If you didn't guess, I'm the one in the silly hat...lol
Please forgive any grammar mistakes. Being polite should come natural to all of us. But, in the south, we say, "thank you" often and "you're welcome."

Once, a few years back, I was on a cruise to the "Southern" Caribbean, and we had the privilege to meet a nice couple from Australia. They would get tickled at the way I would apologize for things and for being so polite. One night, we were in a crowded room on the ship, and I barely bumped into her, of course, by accident. I immediately told her I was so sorry, please pardon me. She laughed and said I was the kindest person she had ever met. I, personally, think that was a compliment and don't even realize that I do it. It's just second nature to me to be that way. We should all try and show more kindness in every action we make, especially in this crazy and cruel world. Luckily, with kindness, there is never a need to be apologetic for your actions. So, I encourage you to try being kind to someone today.

This little creek and bridge are on my property.. What I mean by that is, we had what can be a normal southern breakfast meal, like for example, biscuits, grits, eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, oatmeal and gravy for our evening meal. I love to eat like that. It's so delicious. You can even add some other veggies to it. We added corn and green beans.

Another, one of my favorite things to do, and I'm not sure about other southerners, is add sugar to my gravy. It makes the traditional brown breakfast gravy become a sweet gravy. You can crumble up a biscuit on a plate and pour the gravy all over it, then sprinkle a little sugar on top and stir it in. It is so sweet and tasty. Another, favorite of mine is chocolate syrup gravy. Take 1 cup of sugar, 1 table spoon of cocoa, 1 cup of milk, 1 stick of butter and bring to a boil. Then, pour it over a broken crumbled biscuit. It is yummy. I think us southern people do enjoy things that are not so healthy for us, but most of the hard workers out in the fields, and the ones doing physical labor from past years, didn't seem to hurt them. They lived pretty long and healthy lives. But, of course, most of the other times, they were eating fresh veggies from the garden and other healthy choices. So, not really eating bad foods all the time, just occasionally. Having breakfast for supper can change the whole connotation about rushing awake and gettin' out in the morning and cramming these type of foods down. In the evening, the family can relax, sit together and it seems the food brings about conversation about the whole day, without feeling hurried. Tonight I do feel relaxed and not... over full, but, very satisfied and that's why I love eating breakfast for supper. Try it, you will like it, and your children will think it's a fun thing to do.

Well enough about eating. Enjoy your late breakfast......where you don't have to rise and shine. I took this picture off my backporch... I thought the clouds looked like little cotton balls. :)

Krispy Kremes, "One" Southern Delicacy

Krispy Kreme donuts are a love of mine. I can never have too many...Well, there is a point where if you eat too many "hot" yummy glazed Krispy Kreme donuts you can get sick. I have been there before, because when they're hot you can just about suck them down. They're so fresh and soft. So, if you eat too many too fast, they'll get you. But, I still love them.

In the south, the original store still stands in Atlanta, Georgia. It was the original home for the "hot" donuts. As a child. my parents would take me and my sister down there for a treat. We would watch the ooie, gooie, dough go down a conveyor belt in the round shape of a doughnut and be dipped into and cooked in hot grease. My favorite part was when you watched each donut go under the glazing machine. It would cover each and every part of the doughnut with liquid sugar, mmmm. My mouth is watering, just thinking about it. Then, a worker would grab each doughnut up with a hook (?) and place it in a Krispy Kreme box of twelve. I went to Vegas a few years back, don't ask me why, but the "New York" hotel had a Krispy Kreme store inside the hotel. I guess Vegas is playing to all sins lol. So, of course being the connoiseur of donuts like I am, I had to get a dozen.. I told the lady, I wanted a dozen of glazed doughnuts, and she 'bout fell out. She said, "Where are you from? No one knows how to order our doughnuts the right way; you have to be from the south." She said, people always says, "I'll take one of those sugary looking ones." I said, "How can any one order and eat just "one"?" I thought it was funny, that Vegas played to my "one" temptation. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so keep this quite. hahaha.

Today, at work, my long term friend/co-worker, Angie brought in K.K doughnuts for our office to eat. I'm in total heaven, even my wings begin to sprout..... I had "one".........Then, I tried to stay far away from the coffee area where they were at, but, a little "sweet tooth," which is a pun on where I work, since it is a dentist office, kept calling me back to the doughnuts. So, I broke and had another "one." Tonight on facebook, co-worker/friend Erin, told me she'd "saved," in other words, "hidden" me and her "one" for tomorrow. But sadly, and I say this lightly, I don't work tomorrow. boo hoo. :( I think Erin knew this and just wants to tease me to come in tomorrow to get my doughnut or she can have "two." Not fair. It's been a running joke between us about how much we love them, etc. etc. If employers knew what would make their workers want to come to work, daily, even when they are off, they would have a dozen of donuts happily waiting for them everyday. :)

May I suggest, if you've never tried them, to do so soon. I hear they may be going out of business. So sad. But, look for the "hot" sign and ask for a dozen of glazed. I "sugar" highly recommend them. Bet you can't just eat "one"....Enjoy

The TV Show, "The Wedding Day"

Wow, you gotta see this show about my friend, Sara. She was chosen to be in a series called the "Wedding Day." She has a beautiful story to tell. The show will make you cry. I was invited to go to the wedding, because I worked with her mom, June, at the time of the wedding. And check out Sarah's beautiful smile, I had a "hand" in that too when she was younger. However, when I showed up for the wedding, I didn't know it was being taped for TV. In fact, Jeff, my husband, didn't even attend with me. It takes a lot longer to film an actual wedding than just to perform a normal one. So, I didn't realize I would be out until midnight. Shocker for my husband that it would take me that long.

Luckily, I dressed pretty nice not knowing the situation at hand, because there are two small clips of me in the background toward the end, during the reception part. It's at the time they show Bryan feeding Sara the gorgeous black and white wedding cake. I had gone to the bathroom in the antebellum home, La Jar din Blanc, and came back down the walkway where the pictures of the families working were displayed. I was admiring the beautiful pictures slowly. Therefore, is the reason I didn't realize they were filming the cutting of the cake. So leave it up to me to come in on that special particular part. Well, at least, you don't see me crawling by, consequently after I realized what I had done. lol However, no "one" stopped me....and I had really tried to avoid the cameras all night. They were everywhere and I sure didn't come "camera" ready. In fact, I had arrived in the rain that evening without an umbrella to the conference center where the wedding was supposed to be held. When told about the TV shoot from a friend, tried to go freshen up in the conference bathroom.

Oh well, check me out, anyway. I'm wearing a knee length black sleeveless dress in the clip as I stroll by behind them.... Of course, I'm in a few of the other clips of the guests during the ceremony, back third or fourth roll left, facing the ceremony. I'm famous now!.hahaha... just kidding.. It's not like I haven't been on TV before as a co-host several times and even have been interviewed a couple of times about my life. (and no, not from the cops for the news either, lol)

However, it was still a very magical and special night. A great time was had by all. Sara and Bryan make a great couple. I wish them the best and thank them for including me as one of their guests. Thanks TNT for a fabulous job done. Here is the link, if you would like to see a beautiful love story unfold and don't forget to watch for me strolling by in the background..hahaha!. Enjoy.

http://www.tnt.tv/dramavision/?oid=49347&eref=sharethisUrl

Beautiful Southern Weather

Today is a great day to be living in the south. The weather is gorgeous. It's nice and sunny, but with a tolerant smooth breeze. It feels like one of those beginning of fall days, especially this morning. One thing I love is at night the chirp of the crickets. They sometimes can be in such a chorus they can keep you awake or if your really tired they can be an extra added sleep aid, lulling you right to a deep but peaceful sleep. Sometimes the frogs are croaking too. There are some frogs that have the strangest high pitched croaks that can cause the dogs to bark late at night.

I love to cookout at this time of the year. Our neighbors sometimes cranks up their grills and the smell is so yummy, you can almost taste the juicy hamburger as your mouth begins to water. Hangin' on the back porch and just relaxin' in the afternoon is a great past time of mine. Reading a good book and just enjoying some down time is always a way to let the day finish in quiet. Well, it's getting time to gather up my life for a busy week at work and being a mom of a southern son and daughter also keeps me in the fast lane. They also enjoy going and being involved with their interests.

Thanks for reading. I look forward to your new posts.

Baseball a Southern Past Time

Baseball for southerners is a great way to enjoy and spend time with the family. We sing "Take me out to the ballgame" and enjoy the "Seventh Inning Stretch." That's where you get to stand and stretch, especially if your team has not played ball well. In other words, you haven't been able to jump up when your team hits a homerun. As I type, I am behind homeplate and a fowl ball reached the seats behind me. That was awesome. The guy that got the ball was so close to us, we could see his excited face. Now, for the next important thing to do is to eat. We are going to get some boiled peanuts. They are so good hot and salty. Hot dog is also a major tradition to the baseball fans of the south and sometimes a large pretzel or some cotton candy. Tonight, at this sold out stadium, Maddux retired his jersey. We are havin' lots of family fun. After the game there will be a fireworks show at Turner field.

Prince Charming

Well, I guess Prince Charming did show up in the form of a semi truck driver. A nice southern guy said he'd seen me sitting for over 20 minutes and figured he would see if he could help. He did figure out the problem, and I was able to get home without the car running hot again. Thanks for his true southern hospitality. Thank goodness for southern gentlemen willing to still help here in the south. By no means am I a wimp, and for all those ladies that believe we should be independent and never ask for help, sometimes we should. Everyone needs a little help now and then. Only children, believe "I can do it myself" as children usually say to their parents. But as an adult, I know that two heads are better than one and no "one" person knows it all. So, thanks kind stranger for helping and not robbing me or wanting something in return. I want to express thanks to your kindness you showed me to the world. You are truly a prince charming, not on a horse, but in a semi truck! lol

On the Road Again

On the road again...Well not exactly. I was headed to help my church clean up from Bible School and my little old (but, paid for) mini -van ran hot. Pulled off to the nearest gas station where a nice man assisted me. It looked like the car was cooling down. Tried to drive it. Got half-way across the interstate bridge and it went back to hot. Pulled back into another station and after a large nice church bus tried to help me, we have come to the conclusion it (the car) has a busted hose. I have been wanting a new SC430 for over a year now. It's my dream car and sorta a running joke. Because I figure in this life, I'll never get it. So, my princess hopes and life is shattered today, while I wait on prince charming to come and rescue me. I hope the things I write will be of interest to someone. My cousin gave me the idea. She has a blog space and really enjoys reading and writing the blogs posted. She knows I love to write. I live in the "south," that is....... the United States of America. Things have been a lot different these last past years. The economy isn't as fruitful as we Americans are used to it being. However, as history has told, I'm sure we will bounce back and very soon.

In the south, we are known for our hospitality and friendliness. We welcome all and try to enjoy life. Sometimes, we get rather busy even though compared to other areas of the country we are still laid back. I enjoy the time spent with my family. Us southern folks, are always family oriented. Thanks for viewing my blog. I hope to visit yours soon.

Life in the Fast Lane x Two

Have you ever thought life was passing you by, way too fast? One thing happening after the other. It's this holiday and then it's the next holiday before you can even blink an eye. The stores even have Halloween items with Christmas items. When I was young those two holidays seemed years a part. What's with that, I wonder? Well the answer which I've found is that my life is in the fast lane x two. We, and I mean my family, go from here to there. Trying to get it, the thing called life, all done in the "24" hours that has been given each of us a day. We get not a minute less, nor a second more than any other human placed on this earth; however, I feel I need more time.

Well, with these thoughts in the back of my mind, I try to adjust the hours that have been graciously given to me. It is a privilege to be given this many hours to already exsist in this fast lane x two. Who knew how many breaths that I would be able to take or the number of beats of my heart that has been allowed to unconsciously thump. Indeed, it's a "God" given privilege. Hold on tight, life is going so fast, don't miss the beautiful scenery on the way.
